The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa inaugurated the Annual Adebayo Adedeji Lecture series in March 2014 in Abuja, Nigeria during the 7th Joint Annual Meetings of the AU Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance and ECA Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in Abuja, Nigeria, in 2013.

The Lecture Series honors and recognizes the intellectual contributions to development, service to Africa and humanity of Professor Adebayo Adedeji.
