In prelude to the Conference of Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (CoM 2026), scheduled from 28 March to 3 April 2026 in Tangier, Morocco, under the theme “Growth through innovation: harnessing data and frontier technologies for the economic transformation of Africa,” the Subregional Office for West Africa of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa is organizing a High-Level Policy Dialogue on 12 March 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (GMT+1).
The Dialogue will focus on “Growth through innovation: Harnessing data and frontier technologies for the economic transformation of West Africa,” providing a strategic platform for high-level reflections and policy-oriented exchanges on leveraging innovation and digital transformation to accelerate sustainable economic development in the subregion.
The objective of this session is to build on the vibrant progress of digital transformation across the continent and in West Africa to stimulate reflections and identify West African countries’ specific opportunities, challenges, and policy actions on data and frontier technologies to advance growth, economic transformation, and sustainable development in the sub-region.
