The workshop is part of the Development Account project, "Supporting Structural Economic Progress Towards and Beyond Graduation from Least Developed Country Status," is a joint initiative by the ECA and the UNCTAD. The project aims to empower four African nations—Comoros, Djibouti, Senegal, and Zambia—to use the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as a catalyst for economic growth.
A key component of this project is a series of country-specific studies that analyze the impact of AfCFTA on investment, with a special focus on women. The findings from these studies will be presented and discussed at a regional workshop, which will also evaluate the current status of AfCFTA implementation in each country.
This workshop is a crucial opportunity to:
- Assess Implementation: Analyze the progress of AfCFTA implementation across the four beneficiary countries.
- Strengthen Capacity: Improve the understanding and application of AfCFTA tools among public and private sector stakeholders, especially small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).
- Promote Dialogue: Facilitate the sharing of experiences and best practices to accelerate progress and address challenges.
Through presentations, discussions, and technical training, the workshop will empower stakeholders to effectively leverage the benefits of the AfCFTA agreement, driving sustainable development and economic transformation.
