Addis Ababa, 21 October 2025 (ECA) -The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) will convene the 4th Session of the Committee on Private Sector Development, Regional Integration, Trade, Infrastructure, Industry and Technology (CPRTIIT-4) at its headquarters in Addis Ababa on 18–19 November 2025. The meeting will take place in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and virtual participation.
The two-day session will bring together ministers, policymakers, experts, representatives from the private sector, Regional Economic Communities, civil society, academia, and development partners to explore how frontier technologies and innovation can accelerate Africa’s regional integration and sustainable growth.
In the current context, frontier technologies are not only reshaping global economies but also offer Africa an unprecedented opportunity to leapfrog structural barriers and accelerate its integration agenda.
Participants will:

Review ECA’s work on private sector development, regional integration, trade, infrastructure, industry, and technology, with emphasis on inclusive and green industrialization;

Discuss how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, renewable energy, and biotechnology can support Africa’s development ambitions under Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development;

Examine the role of energy and transport as enablers of socio-economic transformation; and
-
Provide guidance on ECA’s programme priorities and contributions to the 2026 Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
The session is expected to produce recommendations that will strengthen regional cooperation on technology, deepen Africa’s integration, and reinforce ECA’s support for inclusive and sustainable transformation.
