The Socio-Economic Development Division is convening an Expert Group Meeting under the project “Strengthening Youth Policy Implementation and Employment Pathways in Africa” to address the urgent need to translate Africa’s growing youth population into a driver of inclusive economic transformation. Bringing together policymakers, researchers, youth representatives, private sector actors, and development partners, the meeting will focus on identifying practical solutions to strengthen youth employment and entrepreneurship ecosystems, improve policy implementation, and enhance institutional coordination across the region.
It will also provide a platform to review emerging analytical work on best practices, reflect on field research and consultations conducted in Ethiopia, and promote peer learning among stakeholders from the IGAD region.
The discussions will cover key themes including youth financing, national and regional policy frameworks, and youth-led perspectives on labour market challenges and opportunities.
The meeting will take place on 23–24 March 2026 at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC), Room #5, ECA Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
