The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), through its Subregional Office for West Africa, in partnership with the African Centre for Statistics, the Technology, Innovation, Connectivity and Infrastructure Development Division, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), is organizing a webinar on 19 May 2026 dedicated to validating recommendations related to the digital platform for monitoring the implementation of the African Union Roadmap on harnessing the demographic dividend in Africa.
Aligned with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this continental roadmap, launched in 2017, is structured around four strategic pillars: employment and entrepreneurship; education and skills development; health and well-being; and governance and youth empowerment.
Jointly developed by ECA and UNFPA, the digital platform aims to strengthen African countries’ capacities to monitor and assess progress made in terms of demographic dividend, while fostering the sharing of experiences, data, and best practices at both regional and continental levels.
The webinar will bring together pilot countries from West and Central Africa to review and validate recommendations for improving the platform following the testing phases, and to agree on the next steps of the 2026 action plan.
