Objective:
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the Government of Niger, through the Ministry of Population, Social Action and National Solidarity, are organizing, from 08 to 13 April 2026 in Dosso, a Workshop on updating the Demographic Dividend Monitoring Index (DDMI) data to inform the implementation of the Budgeting Sensitive to Demographic Dividend in Niger.
The overall objective of the workshop is to update the data for the various DDMI indices and indicators, as well as the post-2020 budgetary transformation, with a view to operationalizing the Budgeting Sensitive to Demographic Dividend (BSDD) approach in the planning and budget programming process in Niger.
This initiative is part of the technical support provided by the ECA Subregional Office for West Africa, aimed at strengthening Niger’s capacity to advance the implementation of the African Union Roadmap on Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through investments in youth.
