Objective:
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the Government of Senegal are organizing, from 4–5 March 2026 in Dakar, a national technical review and validation workshop of the resource mobilization strategy for financing the blue economy.
This initiative is part of the technical assistance provided by the ECA to strengthen Senegal’s capacity to mobilize resources for the sustainable financing of its blue economy, a strategic sector with strong potential for job creation, innovation, and environmental sustainability. It also contributes to leveraging intra-African trade opportunities and deepening regional economic integration.
The workshop aims to validate the provisional version of the resource mobilization strategy and its priority action plan. Discussions will focus on:
Enhancing the strategic document, including the priority action program and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms;
Reviewing and prioritizing structural and strategic projects;
Assessing financing needs and proposed financing schemes;
Validating the resource mobilization strategy;
Adopting the five-year priority action plan.
The meeting will gather approximately sixty (60) participants primarily from the blue economy sector, including representatives from sectoral administrations, professional organizations, researchers, and NGOs active in fisheries, maritime transport and logistics, and renewable energy.
