Addressing Migration-Related Challenges and Promoting the Economic Empowerment of Returnee Migrant Women in Kenya
Assessment Report

The present assessment examines the economic, social, and reintegration realities of Kenyan women who return after working as migrant domestic workers in Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Using mixed methods of desk review, interviews, focus group discussions of the report profiles returnee women, analyzes drivers of migration, documents human rights challenges experienced abroad, and evaluates existing institutional, legal, and policy frameworks in Kenya. The report calls for strengthened governance of labour migration, standardization of pre‑departure training, creation of reintegration centres, enhanced data systems, recognition of skills acquired abroad, and targeted economic empowerment programmes for returnees.
