2020 IAOS-ISI Conference in Zambia Postponed

Following the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Zambia Statistics Agency, with the directive of the Ministry of National Development Planning of the country and in consultation with UNECA, IAOS and ISI, has issued a decision to postpone the 2020 IAOS-ISI Conference in Zambia to a later date. The date shall be announced at a later stage. The paper presenters are encouraged to finalize their papers in the meantime. We deeply regret any inconvenience caused.


The 17th International Association for Official Statistics Conference (IAOS) and the 3rd International Statistical Institute (ISI) Regional Statistics Conference will be hosted by Zambia from 19-21 May 2020 in Livingston. The 2020 IAOS-ISI Conference will be jointly organised with the Zambia Statistics Agency (ZamStats)-formerly the Central Statistical Office.

The theme of the 2020 IAOS-ISI Conference is Better Lives 2030: mobilising the power of data for Africa and the world. The Conference aimsto bring together statisticians and all those in government, universities, international organisations who care about the value of statistics to society. The theme was chosen to reflect that statistics have the power to transform lives.

This is the first time an African Country will be hosting an IAOS-ISI event.

Oliver Chinganya, the Director of the African Centre for Statistics, ECA, is the Chair of the Scientific Program Committee.
