18 January, 2021
Online / 10:00 am Dakar Time

The African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) and the African Trade Policy Centre (ATPC) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) are pleased to invite you to a webinar on "Empowering women in AfCFTA implementation and delivering on the ‘New African Women’s Decade’ of Financial and Economic Inclusion (2020-2030)," to be convened on 18 January 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Dakar/13:00 Addis time.

The webinar will provide a platform for the exchange of practical and forward-looking ideas for transforming recommendations for women's economic empowerment emanating from the process of gender mainstreaming in AfCFTA National Strategies into concrete actions that deliver on the new decade of “Women’s Financial and Economic Inclusion”. Specifically, the webinar aims to:

  • Raise awareness of how key provisions in the AfCFTA Agreement could be leveraged to advance new trade and economic opportunities for women in their various economic roles.
  • Identify and build on women’s economic empowerment interventions highlighted in the course on “A Guide To Gender Mainstreaming in AfCFTA National Strategies” to promote financial and economic inclusion for African women.
  • Facilitate an exchange on key findings emanating from the process of gender mainstreaming to support the design of gender-responsive AfCFTA policies, complementary measures and other interventions that promote women's full and equal participation in AfCFTA implementation and as part of the solution to post COVID-19 recovery.
