This policy brief reviews the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in Central Africa, highlighting lessons from the Guided Trade Initiative. Despite full ratification, progress is slowed by poor infrastructure, limited digital connectivity, institutional fragmentation, and reliance on raw materials. The brief recommends strategic actions such as improving transport and energy networks, harmonizing regulations, supporting industrialization, and enhancing the business climate to unlock AfCFTA’s potential for economic transformation and inclusive growth.
