Africa SDGS progress report : Is Africa on track to achieve the 2030 Goals?

Release Date:
6 March, 2026

This report assesses Africa’s progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, analyzing continental and sub-regional trends. While overall progress is insufficient, some countries show notable “Bright Spots”: Algeria (poverty alleviation), Cabo Verde (ending hunger), Rwanda (health and water management), Tunisia (education), Angola (renewable energy), Senegal (infrastructure and inequality reduction), and Botswana (life on land). Persistent data gaps, especially for Goals 5, 11, 12, and 16, limit monitoring, with 16 key indicators lacking any data. Subregional disparities are evident, with North Africa generally outperforming Central and West Africa. The report emphasizes the urgent need for accelerated interventions, reliable data, and targeted investment in statistical capacity to ensure Africa achieves the SDGs by 2030.
