Zimbabwe Hosts Workshop on Migration Statistics and the Recognition of Migrant Skills

Harare, 30 May 2023 (ECA) - The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) are holding, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare a joint workshop on Migration Statistics and the Recognition of Migrants’ Skills in Zimbabwe on 6-7 June 2023, at the Monomotapa Harare Hotel.

This event will be an opportunity to present and discuss the final report on Migration Statistics in Zimbabwe drafted by ECA in consultation with the technical working group; share experiences on labour migration statistics, migration governance; and conduct capacity building sessions on labour migration statistics to improve the collection and management of migration data in Zimbabwe among ministries.

The ECA-ILO collaboration in Zimbabwe aims to support government efforts on migration-related issues by strengthening Zimbabwe’s capacity to collect, analyse and disseminate harmonized labour migration statistics and enhance the mutual recognition of skills and qualifications of African workers in accordance with the SDGs and the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Migration.

WHERE: Monomotapa Harare Hotel, Harare, Zimbabwe

LANGUAGES: The language of the meeting will be in both French and English with simultaneous interpretation service into French/English available on the first day. The second day will be conducted in English.
